Blog Info for GAID Seniors

Hello Class of 2015!

Welcome to your last semester. As a part of your portfolio class, you'll be contributing to this awesome collaborative blog. Not only will you have an opportunity to write on design-related topics that interest you, but you will also learn a lot with the help of your classmates.

The senior portfolio blog is an opportunity for soon-to-be graduates to write on topics that are relevant to their transition from students to professional designers. Each portfolio student will be assigned specific dates to write a blog post. Every student will post 2 times throughout the semester. You will include a personal blog as a link of your portfolio website and can migrate these postings to that blog at the end of the semester when your site is built.

Possible Topics for posts:
• Job Hunting (concerns, tips, information)
• Presentation Skills (online, telephone, or in the flesh)
• Professionalism (dress, speech, attitude)
• Financial responsibility (concerns, student loans, decisions that could affect: ex: grad school)
• Respond to a controversial design related article/topic
• Design topics today (ex: Modern Dog’s lawsuit)
• Protecting your work (copyright issues)
• Your Best + Worst (projects students have completed that they deem the best or worst and why)

Each post should be a minimum of 300 words, but can be longer, especially if you need more words to make your point. Word counts are provided as guidelines only. Your content and writing should always reflect who you are.

Students will present posts on their assigned dates. Posts should facilitate class discussion and subsequent online comments. Edits to writing style, Headline effectiveness, Grammar, Links, + Image reference will be suggested and student will update and repost reworked postings.

If you have any questions regarding blog postings, or if you would like someone to workshop your blog posts or other writing, please contact your incredible Supplement instructor, Steph Werning.

Good luck getting over that last hurdle!
